Childhood

If I could go back....I definitely would. Childhood memories are one of the best, and memorable memories of my life. I remember childhood with my siblings and cousins. It was always us six. Everywhere we go, there was always six of us. I remember playing outside in the hot sun, playing tag around the apartment. I remember running into the house begging our mom for money just to buy ice cream from the ice cream truck. I remember all six of us kids swimming in the tiny swimming pool that my mom bought for us. I remember playing duck duck goose. I remember saying things like "psyche" or "talk to the hand". These were the best phrases in my childhood. :) Thinking about this makes me nostalgic. If there was a time machine I would travel back into time to when I was a child.
Whenever I see my little nieces and nephew playing with each other, it makes me yearn to become a child again. It was just so much fun and peaceful as a child. No stress, no worries...

If only I could, I would, I would become a child again, so that I could experience childhood once more.

History

History is a requirement in school. It is a class that we have to take from middle school to high school, and even in college. But have you ever wonder why we learn  history?

We learn about history, so that we won't repeat the same mistakes over and over again. We learn history, to see what our ancestors, our people, and everybody had gone through.

History is also fascinating. If you look at history, you could see that our world has changed a lot from time to time. For example, after learning about my culture's history (Vietnam), it made me appreciate my culture, as well as my family for what they've gone through. I found out that my parents struggled a whole lot just to come to America. Their history made me feel a sense of appreciation.

Many people don't value history. To them, it's just another boring subject in school. To me, it is different, it is powerful. I appreciate all the things people have done and gone through in history, and learning about it is fun.

Education

Education. Why is it so important in our society?
For one thing, education is what helps up advance in society. Without an education, advancing in society would be hard since careers generally rather hire people with a high education rather than one without one.
Education is also important because it lets us think. It lets us think outside the box, think for different sides, it helps us be open minded. It lets us think in other perspective, other than our own. It opens us into a world of knowledge. Without an education, people would have not have a lot of knowledge.
Since education is so important in our society...why do people not value it? Some kids these days take their education for granted. They don't realize that it is important, and see it as a joke. Up until education isn't free anymore, people start to realize the importance of education.

Education is something that everyone should experience and have. I'm glad that I have and still am going to school to gain my education.

A classmate's blog that inspired me.

A classmate's blog that inspired me would have to be the post "Name three people whose lives have been improved by knowing you" by Yvonne Pacheco. This blog inspired me to leave an impact on other people's life, positive of course.
Yvonne said that the three people whose lives have been changed by knowing her were her mom, best friend, and herself. Reading what she wrote touched me in many ways. I liked how she and her mother have a close relationship. I don't have that with my mom. In a way, I envy that. It inspires me to try to bond with my mom, and create a good relationship with her. I want her to not only see me as a daughter, but also of someone who does good in society. I want her life to be changed my knowing me. I want to impact her life.
I was also touched by What Yvonne's post about her best friend. Her friend's life was changed by knowing her. He became a better person. I am inspired by this. I also want to have this impact on my friends. I would like to improve another's person life by knowing them. It would be really cool.

Overall, after reading this post, I am determined to improve other's lives, or at least leave a positive impact on their lives. It would be the best feeling ever.

Effects of rap and hip hop lyrics on teen's language and behavior

There is no questioning that rap and hip hop has a huge impact on today's youth. The question is, is the impact positive, or negative?

Although I listen to rap and hip hop, I believe that it leaves a negative impact on today's youth. The music is entertaining, but have you really listened to the lyrics of rap and hip hop? The lyrics in this genre of music is provocative, usually talking about money, sex or degrading women. Rarely does this genre of music talk about meaningful inspirational things.

It affects the youth by sending out the message that only money and sex is important. It sends out the message that women aren't worthy, and are only viewed as sex objects. If you watch music videos by rappers, you will notice that it mostly consist of women and sex. This is not the type of things that we want our youth to watch, as well as mimic.

I lived in South Sacramento my whole life. I've lived in an area that was influenced by rap and hip hop. I remember being little, and all the little kids in my apartment mimicking the lyrics to a rap song, which was inappropriate for children. This shows that kids are influenced by rap music and that they also mimic what they see and hear. We do not want them to mimic rappers and promote money, sex, and degrading women.

Even though there are some positives that evolve from rap and hip hop, such as self expression, the negatives outweigh the positives.  Rap just isn't the type of music that young people should listen to. Unless these artist change the lyrics and meanings of their songs, this genre of music should not be listened to by our youth. It would only influence them to  mimic the negativity portrayed in the music.

Rap and hip hop also cause crimes, if not, crime rates to increase. Why? Because rap and hip hop talks about gangs, and money as top priority. Our youth will be influenced by this music and copy what they hear and see.

We don't want this to happen to our future generation, therefore, this type of genre of music should not be listened to by our youth. It would only impact them negatively, because rap and hip hop today is full of inappropriate things.

Food

Food, its my favorite thing. It is essential to my survival, and it makes me happy.

What is so unique about food?
Food come in many types. There are food served as breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, appetizers, and snacks. Food also are all different, and have different taste. There are different kinds of food for every culture. For example, Italian, American, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian food. Food can be a way for people to express their culture as well. That being said, whenever I have guest over, my mom always make pho ( Vietnamese noodles) to show people about our culture by eating the noodles.

Food is also unique because it is what keeps us alive. Without food, we would die, because we need to eat.

Food is also a stress reliever..well, for me it is. Whenever I am overly stressed, I grab some snacks and munch on them to forget my stress.

Although food is primarily positive since it is a necessity to our life, it can also be a killer to some people. Why? because some people overeat. They eat too much and become obese... In this case, just manage what and how much you eat.

Food. It's good. It's unique. Everyone eats it. I definitely love food, all types too!

Religion.

Religion. It is controversial because there are many types of religion. Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, Shamanism, Confucian, ect. Some people believe that their religion is superior to others. Some people believe that there religion is right, and others are wrong. Some people become extremist, and believe so much that they start to do bad things.  Religion is a controversial topic regarding our society. Many people base their life on a certain religion, while some don't believe in religion at all.

Yes, it is good to believe. It's good to have faith. However, religion should not be an issue for people. It should not cause hatred, or anything else. People should be good and do good deeds even without religion. I, personally am not religious. I don't think religion should cause any conflict in society, but should bring people together, even if people have different beliefs.

Life reversed: Old to young..

Imagine being born as an eighty year old. You would be old, wrinkly, and would need a caretaker. It's kind of like being a baby, isn't it? Except instead, you are born OLD rather than born young. I mean, when you're a baby, you can't walk and you need someone to care for you. When you're old, the same thing would eventually happen to you again..so what difference would it make, it you were born old rather than young?
My answer, BIG difference! Being born old would mean that you would die young. why would you want to die as a baby?

If I was born old, my life would be completely different. If i was born old, i would not get to experience childhood, and learn as a kid. I would not be able to be creative and imagine. I would not develop and grow. Being born old, means that you have already experienced life, and then in retire mode. It then means memory loss. Life would be completely different.

If I lived life in reverse, it would also mean that I would lose a lot of people in my life, such as old friends, since they would die. I would fall in love with someone who grow old, while I on the other hand grow younger and younger everyday.

Education would be useless, since growing younger and younger would affect my ability to learn and store information. There would be no goals, no point in life.

Have you seen the movie, The case of Benjamin button? This movie is about a man who was born an old man, and as life went on, he grew younger and younger until he was a baby. His life was not satisfying. It was not the same.
I would not like to live life reversed. It changes the definition of life, and life just would not be the same..

A job I will never do..

One job I will never do is become a lawyer. Even if it was the last job in the planet, I would not become a lawyer. In my eyes, lawyers are the most deceiving people. They lie, and at times, help people although they know that the person is completely guilty of a crime. In my eyes, most lawyers are money hungry. All they care about is making money. They are blinded by money.  They should be caring about people's innocence, and help out people who are truly innocent, and not the guilty ones. However, this is not the case. Lawyers tend to help those that pay them the most money. They do this with apparently no guilt at all, and to me, this is wrong. I do understand however, that not all lawyers are like this. But, its seems to me that MOST lawyers are this way. It pisses me off to watch or hear about a case in which a lawyer is defending a person who is surely guilty, and everyone knows it. It sickens me. How could these people defend someone who is guilty of being the bad guy and at the same time take away another person innocence? I can't stand lawyers and our court system. This is why i would never become a lawyer. Not even if it paid me a million dollars, I would not take a job as a lawyer. Others might argue that I'm being bias, and that there are both good and bad people in each career. To me though, this profession has the most dishonest people who have no conscious. They have no sympathy for innocent people. They have no ethics. Lawyers are able to distinguish from right and wrong, but they ignore it and side with anyone who pays them a lot of money.

That being said, I will never become a lawyer. Not now, now later, not ever. NEVER.
